Offline AI & on-device models

Yes. aiME is built as an offline AI app: the models run locally on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device after you download them. Once installed, core chat works without Wi‑Fi, cellular data, or any internet connection—your prompts and replies are processed on-device as private AI.

Yes—after your on-device models are downloaded, aiME can run fully offline AI sessions in airplane mode or in areas with no bars. You need a connection briefly to install or update the app and models from the App Store or Google Play.

On-device AI (local AI) means the neural network runs on your phone or tablet hardware. Cloud AI sends your text to remote servers for processing. aiME emphasizes private AI and offline AI by keeping inference on-device instead of routing every prompt to the cloud.

aiME offers selectable on-device models for offline AI; file sizes vary (often hundreds of MB to multiple GB per model). Check the in-app download list and free space in Settings before installing large local LLM bundles.

Local AI weights are shipped separately so the initial install stays smaller. You typically need at least one downloaded model for offline AI chat; you can open the app for setup while downloads are in progress.

Day-to-day offline AI chat does not need a live connection. Data may be used when you download models, update the app, or use any optional online features—your OS shows per-app network usage.

Running neural networks locally uses your chip (CPU/GPU/NPU) and can shorten battery during long sessions—similar to gaming or video. You avoid radio usage for cloud round-trips; total impact depends on model size and session length.

No. Without internet, private offline AI cannot fetch live web pages, stock ticks, or breaking news. It responds from the downloaded model and your prompt. For real-time facts you need connectivity and a workflow designed for the web.

Privacy & security

For private AI and minimizing off-device exposure, on-device AI is usually stronger: your words are not sent to a provider’s servers for every reply. Cloud AI can excel at scale and tools, but it typically involves internet-based processing.

On-device processing keeps drafts, notes, and chats on hardware you control. That reduces transit over the network and storage on third-party servers—ideal when you want AI without internet exposure during flights, commutes, or sensitive workflows.

Generally yes for inference privacy: local AI can answer without uploading every prompt. Policies differ by app; aiME is designed so standard offline chat is private AI on your device, not cloud-round-trip by default.

On-device AI keeps prompts and outputs inside the app sandbox on your iPhone or Android device. Use a strong device passcode and OS updates. aiME is not an enterprise vault product, but it targets private AI that never leaves your phone for routine offline use.

aiME is built for private AI: standard offline AI chat does not send your threads to us for inference, and we do not use your chats to train shared foundation models. See our Privacy Policy for details if we add optional online features.

Chats, downloaded model files, and preferences usually live in local storage. Remove them by deleting the app or clearing app data in iOS/Android settings—follow your OS version’s steps.

No. aiME only uses capabilities you approve via system dialogs (for example choosing a photo). There is no hidden access to your address book for offline AI.

ChatGPT and Gemini are primarily cloud AI products: prompts typically go to their servers. aiME’s on-device AI keeps conversations local for private AI and no internet sessions. Trade-off: cloud tools may offer browsing and plugins aiME cannot match offline.

Yes. The privacy model is the same: offline-capable, local inference on your hardware. Speed and RAM limits vary by device; newer chips run local AI faster.

App, devices & support

aiME is free to download with optional premium unlock for advanced on-device capabilities. Pricing is shown on the stores and our aiME pricing section.

No account is required for the core experience—aligned with owning local AI on your device.

See current requirements on the App Store and Google Play listings. Newer hardware generally improves offline AI speed.
